Senator Ed Harbison serves as chairman of the Senate Interstate Cooperation Committee, which handles legislative issues concerning the relations of Georgia with other states, as well as any matter that involves equal collaboration between said states.

He is secretary of the Regulated Industries & Utilities Committee handles legislation dealing with gas, telecommunications, electric, and other related industry areas.

Senator Harbison also serves as a member of the following Senate Committees:

• The Banking & Financial Institutions Committee handles legislation involving the jurisdictions of financial institutions, real property finance, and corporate securities law.
  
• The Insurance & Labor Committee handles legislation involving insurance, workers compensation, and unemployment compensation. Committee jurisdiction also includes child labor, convict labor, labor standards and disputes.
  
• The Reapportionment & Redistricting Committee handles the creation of state & congressional district lines according to parameters resulting from the United States Census.
